At Happy With Dogs, we are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of both dogs and humans. That’s why we are thrilled to announce our partnership with Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) Veteran Canine Rescue Mission, a groundbreaking program that connects student veterans with shelter dogs, providing them with support, companionship, and a chance to heal.
The FAU Veteran Canine Rescue Mission
The FAU Veteran Canine Rescue Mission, launched through a generous gift from the Phil and Susan Smith Family Foundation, Susan A. Smith, and the Phil Smith Automotive Group, matches FAU student veterans and alumni veterans with dogs from the Humane Society of Broward County.
As a leading dog training provider in Miami, Happy With Dogs is proud to be a part of this initiative, training these rescued dogs to become service animals, emotional support companions, or simply loving pets for their veteran partners.
Rebecca Pasko: A Marine Corps Veteran’s Commitment to Supporting Veterans
Our founder, Rebecca Pasko, a disabled Marine Corps Veteran herself, understands firsthand the challenges faced by veterans struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Drawing from her own experiences and her expertise in dog training, Rebecca and her team at Happy With Dogs are dedicated to helping these veterans find solace and support through the unconditional love of a trained canine companion.
Advancing Research on the Human-Canine Bond
The impact of the FAU Veteran Canine Rescue Mission extends far beyond the individual lives of the veterans and dogs involved. By collaborating with FAU’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing and the Canines Providing Assistance to Wounded Warriors (C-P.A.W.W.) program, we are contributing to cutting-edge research on the human-canine bond and its potential to alleviate the symptoms of PTSD.
As highlighted in the article “Program Matches FAU Military Veteran Students with Shelter Dogs”, this innovative program is not only saving lives but also advancing our understanding of the therapeutic benefits of animal companionship.
Making a Difference in Our Community
At Happy With Dogs, we believe that every dog deserves a loving home, and every veteran deserves the support and companionship they need to thrive. Through our participation in the FAU Veteran Canine Rescue Mission and our expertise in service dog training in Miami, we are proud to be making a difference in our community, one wagging tail at a time.
