Happy With Dogs and the C-P.A.W.W Program
At Happy With Dogs, we are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Through our collaboration with Florida Atlantic University’s Canines Providing Assistance to Wounded Warriors (C-P.A.W.W.) program, we proudly support an initiative that pairs student veterans with shelter dogs. The C-P.A.W.W. program offers veterans support, companionship, and a path toward healing.
Our founder, Rebecca Pasko, is a disabled Marine Corps Veteran who deeply understands the challenges faced by veterans with PTSD. Drawing from her own experiences and her passion for dog training, Rebecca empowers fellow veterans to train their dogs. This bond fosters mutual support and personal growth, positively impacting both veterans and shelter dogs.
Partnering for Success
As part of the FAU Veteran Canine Rescue Mission, we work closely with the Humane Society of Broward County to match veterans with shelter dogs in need of loving homes.
These dogs undergo specialized service dog training in Miami with Happy With Dogs’ experienced team of trainers. Our program assists in preparing these dogs to become loyal companions, emotional support animals, or even service dogs for their veteran partners.
The Broader Impact
The impact of this program extends far beyond the individual lives of the veterans and dogs involved. By providing a non-pharmacological therapeutic intervention, we contribute to groundbreaking research on the human-canine bond and its potential to alleviate the symptoms of PTSD.
